hi there ,
this past week, I read 2 books - Tennyson’s Poems (by Lord Alfred Tennyson), and Big Two-Hearted River (by Ernest Hemingway).
Tennyson’s poetry collection was (truthfully) difficult to get through due to the outdated language, but some of the imagery he presents in his words were surprising and still hold up today.
Big Two-Hearted River was a book i picked up at a barnes and noble. i sat and read it in one sitting at the cafe (only 60 pages or so). highlights were 1. hemingways prose (best example of his punchy, short sentences), and 2. the illustrations (by chris wormell), which mirror the minimalist vibe of the entire short story. all about fishing , which is a guilty pleasure of mine in regard to literature (reminiscent of A River Runs Through It by Norman McClean - a book of short stories I read last year).
next up is Matthew McConaughey’s autobiography, Greenlights (not partial to these types of books , but havent given them a try either. open minded).
also waiting on a copy of Franz Kafka’s The Trial in the mail - have yet to read any of his body of work. looking forward to it.
